The house was originally the home of politician James Beauchamp and is now a museum open to the public. A trip to St Louis, MO will not be the same without getting the chance to see some important historical homes. One of them is the Scott Joplin Residence, a significant composer who lived in the 19th century.

If you hold an interest in the American military history, you should not miss out on visiting the Gen. John J. Pershing Boyhood Home, located in Hannibal, Missouri. He was one of the most well-known generals at the time, and nowadays his home is considered a national historic monument that can be visited by people all over the world.

 The area is a popular touristic destination, with many coffee shops and bars.

You will not regret stopping by The Mark Twain Boyhood Home during your Missouri trip. The home is now a museum and was established in Hannibal, Missouri in 1912. Visit the house and the garden in order to experience the "Tom Sawyer" adventures first hand, and see the area where the author lived.

There are many events happening every day in spring and summer, and large groups can also visit.

If you love reading, you will enjoy visiting the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home in Mansfield, Missouri. You will be able to see original manuscripts, visit the farm and much more.

The house is easily accessible by car, and pictures are not allowed inside. You will have 2 houses to visit, the main museum, and the souvenir shop where you can buy small personalized gifts and any book you could think of. 

Visit a famous painters home during your weekend
A Missouri tourist will definitely enjoy seeing some of the well-known historical monuments while visiting. Out of those, the George Caleb Bingham House is worth a few hours of your time. The 19th century painting artist home is located in Arrow Rock, and can be toured every day.

The whole area is a great weekend getaway destination and can be reached by car. You should plan your tour to last for at least 2 hours.

An impressive historic house
The Shelley House in St Louis, MO is the right place to visit for anyone who wants to learn more about the African-American history. The house is an important minority heritage and is now privately owned, but not by the Shelley family.

The house has one floor and is located in the Fairground district of the city. It changed little from the time it was built, keeping most of the original architecture and design intact.

The house a president lived in 
The Harry S. Truman Farm Home was used as a residence by the US president Harry S. Truman, before he became president. It is a must see in Independence, MO and receives visitors every day from 8.30 and up to 5 PM. 

You will find many things to do here, and the house is surrounded by a beautiful garden that looks amazing in summer. You can purchase tickets for $4 per adult.
